COVID-19 Facts and Precautionary Measures

The rapidly increasing anxiety and in some instances, panic, around COVID-19 – a virus that has unfortunately claimed more than 8,000 lives – is understandable. The outbreak, declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation, has now resulted in President Ramaphosa declaring a national state of disaster. This announcement means that government is able to summon optimal resources to better capacitate its fight against COVID-19.

It is critical to for one to be educated on the facts pertaining to the virus and adhere to the guidelines provided around hand hygiene, respiratory hygiene and social distancing, which is key to beating COVID-19. We must emphasise however that most cases of COVID-19 are mild and already, almost 42% of those infected, have recovered.

This page therefore aims to provide a consolidated platform where you can access the most up-to-date information on COVID-19 and feel empowered to safeguard yourself and your loved ones. Please note that the SA government has set up a WhatsApp line, which we encourage you to use.

We urge you and your loved ones to exercise caution and maintain hygiene to reduce the risk of exposure.
