The rapidly increasing anxiety and in some instances, panic, around COVID-19 – a virus that has unfortunately claimed more than 8,000 lives – is understandable. The outbreak, declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation, has now resulted in President Ramaphosa declaring a national state of disaster. This announcement means that government is able to summon optimal resources to better capacitate its fight against COVID-19.
It is critical to for one to be educated on the facts pertaining to the virus and adhere to the guidelines provided around hand hygiene, respiratory hygiene and social distancing, which is key to beating COVID-19.
